iPhone prices aren't flat year-round. There's a clear seasonal pattern — and knowing it can net you an extra $30–$100 on your sale.
January–May: Stable, decent prices
The market has absorbed the new iPhones from the prior fall. Prices are at their floor and stable. A good time to sell if you need cash — prices won't drop much more.
June–August: Best window to sell
Demand for used iPhones picks up. People want phones for summer. Prices often tick up slightly. This is the optimal window — before new iPhone speculation starts to drag prices down.
September: Danger zone
Apple announces new iPhones. Within days, prices for the current generation drop 8–15%. If you wait until the new phones are announced to sell your old one, you've already missed the window.
October–December: Recovery, then holiday bump
Prices stabilize at their new lower floor. There's a small uptick during the holiday gift-buying season (November–December) but it rarely exceeds the summer high.
💡 Simplest rule: sell in June or July. Not September. Not after Christmas.
